BERNADETTE

I saw her with yellow hair like sunshine in Winter
And the brightest smile lasting long after she walked by
In my dreams she stayed and woke me into another
One we shared, and lay naked in the same field
Close as we could become
The first days I spent with Bernadette

And after we were lovers and every minute lasted
My skin waited for her touch
I watched as she walked to me and swayed
As all and every sense I had aroused and shook
Until we were beside and surrounded
The early hours of Bernadette

Long ago, long ago in my youth and fears
And the sky was orange with feathers and clouds
She held my hand and we made love
All through the sunshine
And my thoughts were all of her body
That was Bernadette.

It was with the most abyss of sadness
We had to part and live alone
While the days grew bleak and fearful
And she left for the South to be less afraid
All alone ,I was alone ,dark and scared
Far away from Bernadette.

All my tears were my own creation
From a lust and confusion
Strained by growing pains
Illusions ignoring my dreams and affections
Driving me away and beyond
Long, long from Bernadette.

So I stayed awake while her ghost was there
Until the day arose
With a new desire to return and find
Her light to burn with my dreams again
I needed her close and deep inside
I longed for Bernadette

Everything continued, and we were no more alone
The days all came together
As though we had no choice
I drowned in her,      rejoicing
Like my life has just begun
Begun again with Bernadette..
